The Island Strategic Partnership (ISP) is the “partnership of partnerships” for the Island. Every local authority area in the UK is required to have a Local Strategic Partnership. The Isle of Wight’s Strategic Partnership is the ISP.

The ISP Board leads the partnership and holds the partners to account for delivering on their promises.

The ISP Board meets quarterly, in public, and is the governance, monitoring and scrutiny body for the partnership working on the Isle of Wight. The Board gives direction to the partnership and will ensure that its various workstreams come together to hit all embracing targets such as making the Isle of Wight England’s “Eco Island”, with the lowest carbon footprint in England by 2020.

There are a number of other ISP bodies that have specific responsibility for making sure that Eco Island is delivered.
The ISP Executive will support the ISP Board by bringing together the Chief Executives of influential organisations with the ability to get things done in their organisations.
The ISP Executive meets monthly and is responsible for the performance management of Eco Island and drives the delivery of the ISP’s service improvement agenda. The ISP Executive will take a very great interest in the Island’s performance with regard to the Local Area Agreement, the Comprehensive Area Assessment and the development and implementation of the Island Plan, together with other overall improvements being made to local services by its members and the wider community.

The Government Office of the South East will be invited to attend and observe the Executive meetings.
A number of key delivery partnerships will be held accountable for delivering the vision of Eco Island. These partnerships are led by Boards that have the responsibility of leading change and reporting their progress to the ISP board and the community. These key delivery partnerships are the engine room of change. Each has a working programme and working plans that will develop with Eco Island.
